About the competition
Globally is excited to organize the yearly Global Innovation Award for the third year in a row: The award where global innovations get the chance to enter and grow in the UAE market with the support of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change & Environment.
Who is it for?
Companies from all over the world with innovations that can support the UAE in becoming the most sustainable destination in the world
How does it work?
Applicants can upload their innovation video to GloballyGreat and fill in the application form until December 24th, 2020, after which the jury will select a winner. The jury will evaluate your submission based on the impact your innovation can have on sustainable living in the UAE. Preference will be given to innovations which have a proven track record of making a positive impact on our planet. The winner(s) will be announced during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week in January 2021.
What is there to win?
This year 3 Awards will be handed out. There will be one overall winner of the Global Innovation Award and 2 category awards: SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production sponsored by Bee'ah and SDG 14 Life Below Water sponsored by DP World.
The winner(s) will get:
- Exposure to a large global audience during the virtual award ceremony at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week
- Support from UAE government organizations and award partners; including Bee'ah, the Middle East's leading waste management company, and DP World, the global ports operator
- 6 months of free access to one of Dubai's coolest co-working spaces at Dtec
- A dedicated company channel on GloballyGreat

Heliatek
As the technology leader in organic photovoltaics (OPV), Heliatek develops, produces and distributes industrial-grade organic PV solar films for virtually any building surface (horizontal, vertical, curved, rigid, and flexible).
Since winning the award last year, Heliatek has partnered with Etihad Energy Service (ESCO) and realized a major pilot project in Dubai: the installation of 40 films (1kWp) OPV at the Al Jalila Cultural Center for Children. The project will become the driver for large scale roof installations in Dubai and the Middle East.
